What is Plarn? The local homeless know!! Plarn is plastic yarn that is made from plastic grocery bags cut into strips, crocheted and then a knitted handle is attached. It takes about 800 bags to make a single mat. To date, 150 finished mats have been donated to JOPPA and UBFM (Urban Bicycle Food Ministry). The homeless have expressed their great appreciation for the mats. Creating the mats serve a dual purpose of recycling the plastic bags and giving the users a dry cushion off the ground.
Plarn mats are made in the Fellowship Hall at 1:00 pm on Monday afternoons. Want to learn more? Join us!
